G'ahri Gassaway is the 2025-2026 Springdale Elementary Teacher of the Year!

G'ahri joined Team Tulsa in 2023 and currently serves as the fifth grade math teacher and math chair at Springdale. We asked him a few questions to learn more about him and his time in Tulsa Public Schools.

What led you to a career in education?

Being in a family full of educators, education has always been in the forefront of my goals.

What is your favorite thing about your work?

My favorite thing is discussing goals and data with the students. They really enjoying hearing where they can improve to be the best students that they can be. My students will say that their favorite thing is when I tell them stories about my childhood and how it was growing up in the small town of Langston, Oklahoma.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of teaching?

Before education, my career was marketing. I love supporting local businesses and highlighting them, so I made a food page to give a spotlight to those businesses in need.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Springdale has the best family engagement that I have seen. There is an atmosphere here that we are all on the same page. Parents love being involved and they are willing to support teachers and staff with anything they need.
